There are many reasons as to why someone might need a review course before taking their certification exam.
At Aceso, we want our nurses to feel as confident as possible both when they’re preparing to take their certification exam and when the day comes to actually complete the test. Confidence is key when it comes to crunch time, which is why we’re a big proponent of RN review courses.
Everyone learns at different speeds and styles, and that’s something we understand on an intrinsic level. Our courses are made for nurses by nurses – and many different kinds of nurses at that; nurses that practice in all types of environments.
Because of the wide variety of learning styles and the wide array of nursing specialities, we offer more than one type of RN prep course. In addition to our general RN refresher course in Florida, we also offer review courses for those who want to become certified medical-surgical registered nurses (CMSRNs), certified emergency nurses (CENs), and critical care nurses (CCRNs).
These RN prep courses can be attended live or via Zoom and offer the theory that you need to know to become specialized in the field. The last thing that we want is for you to go into your exam feeling unprepared, and the first step to gaining confidence is feeling prepared when you take the certification exam.
Aceso is here to support RNs – no matter what stage of study or what stage of life that they’re in. We want to see you succeed.
For each specialty of nursing (CMSRN, RN, and CCRN), the review courses cover different topics. To learn more about what skills and knowledge will be covered in each course, read on.
CMSRN Review
When you’re on the road to becoming a CMSRN, there are plenty of reasons as to why you should take your certification exam seriously. In order to take the exam seriously, you must be prepared for everything that it entails.
As a CMSRN, you’re offering patients and their families the comfort of knowing that they’re safe in your care. You want to put your best foot forward and let your colleagues know that you are competent in the workplace, have a far-reaching knowledge base, and are capable of handling any situation – even when under stress.
When you pass the exam, you prove that you can perform all of these skills with care and with ease. Not only this, passing the exam is proof to yourself that you have the propensity to pass such an important test – one that will launch you into a lifelong career.
When you participate in the CMSRN prep course, you will learn about topics such as:
- The CMSRN exam and eligibility for the exam
- How to prepare for the exam itself
- Beneficial study resources
- Test taking strategies for every type of learner
- Sample test questions to prepare you for exam day
- Tips for the day of the exam to help you succeed
When it comes to the actual exam, the CMSRN exam is structured in a unique, two-part way. The first part focuses on patient problems by physiological symptoms, and the other focuses on domains of nursing practice.
In Part 1, the categories that you will be tested on (and that the CMSRN review will go over) are:
- Gastrointestinal system
- Pulmonary system
- Cardiovascular system
- Diabetes and other endocrine conditions
- Genitourinary, renal, and reproductive
- Musculoskeletal and neurological
- Hematological, immunological, and integumentary
In Part 2, the categories that you will be tested on (and that the CMSRN review will go over) are:
- Administering and monitoring therapeutic interventions
- Diagnostic and patient monitoring function
- Helping role
- Teaching/coaching
- Effective management and rapidly changing situations
- Organizational and work-role competencies
- Monitoring and ensuring quality healthcare practices
You can choose to either take the CMSRN certification exam online (where you receive results immediately) or in person, where it will then take 8 weeks for you to receive your results.
CCRN Review
The CCRN review was created by Aceso to support critical care nurses on their journey to passing the certification exam. These types of nurses must operate in a fast-paced, high-stress environment day in and day out, which means that they must be armed with the knowledge and skills to think (and act) on their feet.
The CCRN review course supports all types of learners – no matter how fast or slow, the course is tailored to you. The review course is aligned with the exam itself, meaning that it reviews only the relevant material that you need to pass the certification exam.
The review (and the exam) will take a bodily systems approach to:
- Critical anatomy
- Physiology
- Pathophysiology
It includes both theory and real-life scenarios so you’re not only knowledgeable in what’s on paper during the certification, but in situations that occur during your practice.
In order to build confidence in test takers, the CCRN review will go over test-taking strategies and practice questions, so you’ll feel as prepared as possible.
CEN Review
The CEN review was created by Aceso to support critical care nurses on their journey to passing the certification exam. These types of nurses must operate in a fast-paced, high-stress environment day in and day out and need to be at the top of their game.
Our CEN review includes:
- Shock and Multi-System Trauma
- Cardiovascular Emergencies
- Medical Emergencies
